My Credentials
Back in my early twenties, when I was a single mom with my oldest daughter, Rebecca, I ran gyms, and personal trained at Bally Total Fitness and Fitness Connection.
I was the General Manager at Bally Total Fitness in The Woodlands, Texas, which now happens to be a Fitness Connection that backs up to I-45 off of Raford Sawdust Rd. Back then, we were selling 3 different level gym memberships. I think it was "Fitness", "Platinum", and "Premier" At that time, I was not only trying to convince people they needed a gym membership, (because everyone thinks they can do it themself) I was also trying to close them on financing the cost of a gym membership when 24 hour Fitness, and The Q were introducing "month, to month, cancel at any time" memberships. It was something else. Ultimately, we all know Bally Total Fitness didn't adapt and went bankrupt!
Before Bally Total Fitness ever went bankrupt, and while I was still working there, I ended up starting to date my boss at the time, who was a Marine. When we met, I had just moved into sales from working the front desk because I'd book appointments for the program directors. The former General Manager, before the one I started dating, was basically trying to keep me busy so another front desk girl could maintain the control she desired, and everyone stayed happy! I did a good job without any experience booking appointments, so they moved me up in sales to my first ever commission job! I continued to move up after that.
There came a time, when the Marine I was with had opened the Bally Total Fitness in Sugarland, another suburb of Houston, and he was pretty done and burned out. Upper management was always low on praise, even if you were hitting your numbers. He wanted to follow a fellow Marine to open up Fitness Connection in San Antonio, and in Austin, Texas. It meant we'd have to move from my apartment, with my daughter, to San Antonio. I was pretty burned out too, so we went!
There weren't but 3 Fitness connections at the time, because the former World's Gym owners made an agreement that the Fitness Connection owners wouldn't move into Houston for 10 years.
That meant there weren't enough gyms to manage, so the Marine managed the Walzem Road location in San Antonio, and I personal trained until the management switched out and I could take over the Bandera location.
I have been an athlete and connected to health and fitness, and have had a high interest in it my whole life. I just can't get away from it!
